Liposuction

Obesity is the epidemic of the modern times. The response to various slimming programmes, therapies, applications and oils are at best unpredictable, mostly ineffective, and even dangerous at times.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure which removes fat deposits and improves the shape of the body. It is based on the principle of extraction of adipose (fat) tissue from the body and offers an immediate contour correction; a one-time cure by reducing the number of fat cells (adipocytes) in the area treated. A path breaking procedure re-introduced in the 1980s, liposuction can remove localized collections of fat from many areas of the body

The popularity of liposuction is due to the effectiveness of the technique -in the hands of a qualified surgeon; and the fact that it leaves only very tiny scars, which are nearly invisible, often less than half an inch in length. In liposuction, fat is removed from an area by using a long cannula connected to a powerful suction machine. The machine used for this purpose creates high negative pressures, at which pressure & body temperature, the fat is liquefied and can be sucked out. Fat collection over hips, abdomen, thighs, and arms, under the chin, upper body and chest (particularly in males with prominent breasts) can thus be reduced instantly.

The best candidate for this procedure is of average weight with extra fat localized in specific areas. It is also important that they have healthy, elastic skin with the capacity to shrink evenly after surgery. Since liposuction removes only fat, it cannot eliminate dimpling or skin laxity. Nevertheless, elastic skin will overcome this problem easily. Liposuction is a procedure  intended for shaping specific areas of the body and is not recommended for weight loss.
